The Smoking Bones is a fictional world and the setting for a series of illustrated books imagined and published by Andrew Bosley and Wits End Studios. The Smoking Bones centers on the adventures of Captain Red Jones and his mission to discover, promote, and preserve the magical places of the world.
Sadly, those magical places, called Wonders, are disappearing from the landscape. Red is determined to find out why and restore the Northlands to their magical glory. Along the way, he'll clash with deadly pirates, battle with magical weather, and manage troublesome tourists.

Here's what's going on!
The core of the Smoking Bones story is contained in the Smoking Bones Saga, a series of four books and three board games. Released in chronological order, the books will alternate with games to tell a fully immersive story and worldbuilding experience.
The first book in the Smoking Bones Saga is called Red Jones and the Burning Heart.
When the adventurous Captain Red Jones finds a cryptic note in the skies, he leaves ship and company to answer its anonymous sender. In the city of Seven Sisters, he meets a young guide with a clue that could lead him to the Heart of Withermark, one of the greatest, lost Wonders of the Northlands. Their expedition takes Red and his new friend through fire, water, and earth. But when they discover the Heart, they unlock a deadly, magical force that will take all the strength and courage they have to stop.
The Burning Heart is an illustrated novel with full color art on every page and a family-friendly, middle grade adventure. Like with the Smoking Bones Travel Guide, Andrew's son, Will, is back to add his writing virtuosity as co-author.

Andrew Bosley and Wits End are excited to work with Stonemaier Games on a series of board games set in the Smoking Bones world. These games are currently being developed by experienced designers and, of course, will be art directed and illustrated by Andrew Bosley.
